First Run of the Year
Motivation wasn’t lacking today. Although I welched on heading out to the mountains to snowboard by myself, I headed off to Discovery Park after Danika went to work despite the fact the rain was coming down consistently.
It was warm but wet, although in the trees the rain wasn’t so heavy. I ran the loop clockwise from the north carpark once, with a big diversion down to South Beach/lighthouse and then the North Beach. The tide was in so I ran on the trails rather than the beach itself. I stopped to take a couple of bad pictures for a photo per day on the way to the lighthouse, and as soon as I put my camera away an eagle drifted by about 30 feet away. That was kind of special.
I was out for 53 minutes not running very fast, but I don’t know the official distance (i.e. how far Danika tells me it is) as I added in the beaches.
Seattle is crazy though – I wasn’t even alone, there were plenty of other runners out!
