Hanging up my badge
On Friday I hung up my badge at Amazon.com, also turning in those other tools of the trade – pager, VPN, laptop, backup laptop, extra power cable etc, etc.
Yes that’s right, my second tour at the ‘zon is done and dusted and I’m changing job in the next few weeks to go and work for AOL Wireless in the tegic product group – predictive text and cellphones will rule the world.
I am excited and nervous – it’s a big change, and I rarely change jobs so there is a lot for me to learn. It’s also going to be my second experience at a US company, so it will be interesting to compare cultures.
I’ve enjoyed my time at Amazon – they are a good company, and although there are some things I would change, they have a distinct culture and great people. I will be continuing to do my internet shopping there, and geeking out on some of their non-retail recent offerings such as S3. And someday someone may buy something from one my associate links.
With this news, Danika changing job earlier this year and the Clan Waddell due for organic growth, 2006 is certainly working out to be a big year. In general I’m a big fan of the status quo, but sometimes it’s good to attempt to nudge destiny in a direction you choose.
I fear change. Change is good. Change is now.
