2006 Activity Zeitgeist

Similar to last year’s What did you do in 2005? here is my compilation from Excel of my activities in 2006.

Many of you will be glad to see that I did nothing on 153 days – almost half the year! I did approximately 372 activities, which means I double-dipped on only 7 days, which is pretty low (i.e. I basically never did a bike to work and something else). I’ve made a funky little pie chart showing the overview:

I would like to make a claim that I didn’t log a long summer and autumn of doing regular evening “pregnancy walks” with Danika, but really, they didn’t count anyway.

Side notes: I only went to the gym once (for ski conditioning), our hiking was mostly compressed into August (getting ready for vacation) and then September (the vacation), 11 out of my 12 mountain bike rides were at Tiger, and for the first time I snowboarded the same amount as a I mountain biked. Justifying not buying a new mountain bike but the new on-sale snowboarding kit quite nicely. Apart from gym and basketball all of my activities were outside which I like.

In terms of the new bike (Redline 925) I rode it 48 times compared to the Volpe’s 76, but 44 of the Volpe’s rides had been before I had the 925. So since purchase the rides have been 48 vs. 32. Redline 925 wins.

Finally, moving job seriously reduced my work miles on the bike: from 16 to 9 a day, and I really feel the lack of a critical mass in the shorter commute.

Looking at the comparison, the only big difference this year is that I split “bike” into non-work road biking (4) and mountain biking (12). The bike (21) from last year combined these (although was mostly mountain biking).

Updated 28th Dec 07: fixed the titles to 2006/2005 instead of 2007/2006

Amazing! A pie chart of your physical activity for 2006. I’m sure it will differ for ‘07.
Opens up so many possibilities. Types of books read/walking with baby/SLEEPING.
