Movie: Surviving Christmas

DVD: Surviving Christmas (imdb).

Danika’s instructions were to rent something mindless and Christmassy. We agreed we couldn’t rent Love Actually again – as we rented it last year and there is always a danger of ruining your favourite Christmas movie. I think we were both hoping for something classic, or good, but no.

Rain City Video had a nice little Noel section, filled with lots of kids movies and empty spaces. They also had VHS, and I was tempted to go for the old tape of Scrooged (which D cannot remember seeing) but instead went for The Family Stone (unwatched so far) and Surviving Christmas. Ben Affleck, The Sopranos, the blonde from Third Rock from the Sun Married With Children (or whatever) who is Rachel’s sister in Friends – a sure fire hit!

Um, noo. 4.8/10 on imdb.com and I think that’s generous. I sure wish I’d been totting an iPhone and thought to look the score up in the store.

Anyway, we blazed through it (apparently the studio cancelled the black comedy script and the cast ad-libbed through the movie), electing not to pause when we went to the bathroom. And we’re done.

1/5 on the grand scale (aka “Run for your life”) – I don’t recommend it, and I don’t think it’ll be a Christmas tradition.

Update: Apparently Christina Applegate was in Married With Children, so I need to watch more 90’s TV.
