Movie: The Family Stone
DVD: The Family Stone
So, it turns out the was a Christmas movie after all! Although it was the Noel corner of the video store it doesn’t mention Christmas anywhere on the cover or in the pictures – and as the Noel section also offered Pieces of April, it could have referred to any difficult family holiday situation.
But, no, this was a standard twisted relationship drama set around a liberal household in New England for an unspecified Christmas a few years past. I won’t really spoil it for you, except to say that D almost ended up liking Luke Wilson, and the younger sister was both not pleasant and quite pretty (according to imdb she’s Maxim’s #68 in 100 sexiest movie stars even though she’s only been in the movies for a few minutes).
It is a romantic comedy though, and I was slightly bored most of the way through, although I did laugh out loud (LOL!) when the naked turkey hit the floor, and the strada scene was fun and the Saab scene.
So if you’re stuck, go for it. You could do worse.
2/5, life is short.
