Ride: Tiger

Post Tiger, originally uploaded by machaggis.
Mmmm, I don’t really know how to put this. My last blog post about a ride was in April last year, although I did a few more last year it was nothing to be happy about (5!).
This year has been even more embarrassing – apart from 2 days in Whistler while on vacation in August (never did blog that one…) I have done zero mountain biking this year.
Until today.
It was possibly the last sunny weekend of the year (it’s Seattle after all and the rain was here last week), I was on a borrowed bike, my biking buddy had welched and I had a head cold. But Tiger closes in a couple of weeks, and it would just be plain wrong to not ride Tiger once a year (*).
So I did.
And it was fun.
It took me a long time to get up the fire-road but I did it in a oner and then Morgan’s bike put up a goodly speed and skill level on the whole trail. I likee those disc brakes.
The trail seemed like the middle of summer rather than the last Sunday of September, which was very, very nice. There was also a summer’s worth of trail work in evidence, and the sneaky little shortcut at the end of Preston (about 100 yards!) almost seems official now.
I did get Morgan’s bike dirty though, so I guess I better clean it.
(*) especially after last year, and this year, when I broke the Epic rides routine and didn’t do Devil’s Gulch
