Someone else nailed it! (Star Trek Geekery Warning!)

Mitch Wagner (don’t really know who he is, but his Star Trek re-watch reviews have been fun) just nailed it on tor.com (lives in my feeds) with Something that really bugs me about the recent Star Trek movie.
I knew I had a sour or two taste in my mouth after the mostly enjoyable Star Trek re-boot movie, and I think this was one of them. (The whole “time travel in Star Trek” was another, and a desperate need for beer was another).
