The Size of an Avocado

Ive gone public just about everywhere else, so I guess its time to share the news on my blog. I am pregnant! G and I are both very excited and have been witnessing the changes in my body with great fascination. I am currently 16 weeks along and according to babycenter.com, the baby is now the size of an avocado. The size of my belly belies this fact as it seems to be swelling and expanding by the day.

I plan to post some of my musings about this journey here, as well as some pictures. Some of my family members who live far away have specifically requested pictures of my belly. Truth be told, its nothing terribly exciting at this point, although I will happily comply with the requests.

For those of you with burning questions, Ill try to answer a few of the big ones right off the bat. If you have others, let me know.

When am I due? January 16, 2007

Do we know whether its a boy or girl? No, and were not planning to find out.

How am I feeling? Pretty darn good, actually! Much better now that the fatigue and nausea of the 1st trimester have passed.

Am I showing? Not really. My bellys poking out a little but its not very noticeable. Ive gained about 3 or 4 pounds thus far.

What am I eating? Ahhhh..this is a blog entry in itself, or perhaps several. Lately, Id say Ill eat anything thats not nailed down. Specifically, Im enjoying carbs (i.e. pasta, toast, pizza, anything with noodles), milk/cheese, chicken but not fish, and ice cream. And thats just the short list.

Welcome to the adventure of Baby Machaggis!

I for one am greatly anticipating photos of your belly!
And as you know, when I was pregnant for you the reigning food was ICE CREAM.

I am also eager for pictures of my slowly but surely expanding sister. Hmm, if mom ate ice cream all the time with you, that explains your sweet lusciousness. I think she craved watermelon with, which must be why I am so cool and can be equally sweet and savory. I’m not sure what carb-crazy means but I am just glad you’re craving pasta and not haggis.
